COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
& EVENT ETIQUETTE
OUR PHILOSOPHY
SD Sip & Social is built on genuine friendships, meaningful connections, kindness, participation, and respect for one another's time.
Our goal is to create a welcoming community where members can connect through shared experiences and in-person events.
While life happens and schedules change, we ask members to communicate openly, RSVP responsibly, and contribute positively to the community experience.
Active Membership Expectations
SD Sip & Social is an active, participation-based community.
Members are encouraged to engage with fellow members, participate in conversations, attend events, and contribute positively to the overall community experience.
Membership is intended for individuals seeking meaningful participation rather than passive access to community resources.
SD Sip & Social reserves the right to review memberships that demonstrate prolonged inactivity or lack of participation.
Members Only Events
Unless specifically stated otherwise, SD Sip & Social events are reserved exclusively for approved members.
Guests, plus-ones, spouses, partners, family members, friends, coworkers, children, and other non-members may not attend events unless the event description explicitly states that guests are permitted.
This policy helps preserve the integrity of the community and ensures that all attendees have completed the application and approval process.
Members may not invite or bring unapproved guests to community events.
If a friend is interested in joining SD Sip & Social, we encourage them to submit an application and complete the membership process.
We love welcoming new members, but everyone should have the opportunity to join through the same process.
RSVP Expectations
Members should only RSVP to events they genuinely intend to attend.
If plans change, members are expected to update their RSVP as soon as possible.
Whenever possible, members should provide at least 24 hours notice when canceling an event.
Some events may require additional notice due to venue requirements, reservations, deposits, ticket purchases, or limited availability.
Event-specific cancellation deadlines will always supersede general community guidelines.
Late Arrivals
We understand that traffic, work obligations, family commitments, and unexpected situations may occasionally arise.
Members who expect to arrive late should notify the host or event chat as soon as possible.
Repeated late arrivals may be considered when evaluating membership standing and participation history.
No Shows
A no-show occurs when a member RSVPs to an event but does not attend and does not communicate with the host beforehand.
No-shows negatively impact reservations, event planning, venue relationships, host efforts, and the experience of fellow members.
Repeated no-shows may result in warnings, RSVP restrictions, temporary suspension, or membership termination.
Habitual Cancellations
Occasional cancellations are understandable.
However, repeatedly RSVPing and canceling shortly before events may negatively impact the community experience.
Members who demonstrate a pattern of habitual cancellations may receive warnings, RSVP restrictions, temporary suspension, or membership review.
Repeatedly RSVPing only when larger groups are expected, while consistently canceling or declining smaller gatherings, may also be considered when evaluating overall participation and community engagement.
Deposits, Tickets & Reserved Experiences
Certain events may require advance payment, deposits, tickets, reservations, or commitments made on behalf of attendees.
Cancellation deadlines will be communicated within each event listing.
Unless otherwise stated, refunds are not guaranteed for deposits, tickets, prepaid experiences, reserved seating, or special events.
If a member cancels after the stated deadline, SD Sip & Social may be unable to issue a refund because funds may have already been committed to a venue, vendor, reservation, activity provider, ticket purchase, or other event-related expense.
When possible, SD Sip & Social may attempt to transfer a reservation or ticket to another member. However, transfers and refunds are not guaranteed.
Each event may have its own cancellation policy depending on the requirements of the venue, vendor, activity provider, or event organizer.
By registering for a prepaid, reserved, deposit-based, or ticketed event, members agree to the cancellation policy stated within that event.
Host Respect
Members are expected to treat event hosts, venue staff, volunteers, and fellow members with courtesy and respect.
Hosts dedicate time and effort to creating experiences for the community.
Disrespectful behavior toward hosts, venue staff, volunteers, or members may result in membership review.
Event hosts may establish reasonable event-specific expectations and reserve the right to remove disruptive participants from an event when necessary to maintain a safe and enjoyable experience.
Community Conduct
Members are expected to:
• Be respectful and welcoming
• Foster an inclusive environment
• Communicate professionally
• Respect personal boundaries
• Support a positive community atmosphere
• Follow venue rules and event expectations
The following behavior is prohibited:
• Harassment
• Bullying
• Discrimination
• Threatening behavior
• Intimidation
• Excessive disruption of events
• Sharing another member's private information without consent
• Gossip intended to harm another member
• Creating unnecessary conflict within the community
No Solicitation Policy
SD Sip & Social is a social community, not a sales platform.
Members may not use the community primarily for sales, recruiting, lead generation, solicitation, political campaigning, religious recruitment, or promotional activities without prior approval.
Networking and naturally sharing professional interests is welcome, but aggressive sales tactics are not.
Member Privacy
Members are expected to respect the privacy of fellow members.
Personal information, contact information, photos, private conversations, and community discussions should not be shared outside the community without permission.
Photography & Social Media
Photos and videos may occasionally be taken during events for promotional, website, marketing, social media, and community-building purposes.
Members who prefer not to appear in photos should notify the event host.
Reasonable efforts will be made to honor those preferences.
Alcohol Responsibility
Members are solely responsible for their own alcohol consumption, transportation arrangements, and personal decisions before, during, and after events.
Please drink responsibly and make safe transportation arrangements when necessary.
Member-to-Member Interactions
Members are responsible for their own interactions, communications, friendships, travel arrangements, transportation decisions, financial agreements, business dealings, and personal relationships involving other members.
SD Sip & Social does not conduct background checks and cannot guarantee the conduct, intentions, compatibility, or actions of individual participants.
Members should exercise reasonable judgment when interacting with others.
Event Changes & Cancellations
Events may be modified, rescheduled, relocated, postponed, or canceled due to weather, venue requirements, host availability, safety concerns, low attendance, or other unforeseen circumstances.
SD Sip & Social does not guarantee attendance levels, event size, member participation, friendships, introductions, compatibility, or specific outcomes from membership or event participation.
Participation & Accountability Guidelines
Our goal is not perfection. We understand that life happens and unexpected circumstances arise.
However, maintaining a strong community requires mutual respect, communication, and consideration for fellow members, hosts, venues, and event organizers.
When participation concerns arise, SD Sip & Social generally follows the framework below:
First Occurrence
Friendly reminder regarding community expectations.
Second Occurrence
Review of participation history and communication regarding community expectations.
Continued Pattern of Concern
Membership may be subject to participation restrictions, RSVP limitations, temporary suspension, or termination.
This framework serves as a general guideline and is not a guarantee of progressive discipline.
SD Sip & Social reserves the right to evaluate each situation individually and determine appropriate action based on the specific circumstances involved.
Discretionary Enforcement
Every situation is unique.
SD Sip & Social reserves the right to investigate circumstances, consider context, review participation history, and determine appropriate action on a case-by-case basis.
Serious violations may result in immediate suspension or termination without prior warnings.
Community Stewardship
SD Sip & Social reserves the right to suspend, restrict, deny, or terminate membership at its sole discretion when it determines that a member's conduct negatively impacts the community, its members, hosts, events, reputation, culture, safety, or overall experience.
SD Sip & Social reserves the right to modify, update, interpret, and enforce community policies, event procedures, participation expectations, membership requirements, and community standards at any time.
Continued participation in the community constitutes acceptance of any updates.
WE APPRECIATE YOU
Your respect, communication, and participation help make SD Sip & Social more than just events - it makes a true community. Thank you for being part of it!
